Newspaper article on Conventions—why so glowing?

every year in dozens of cities where conventions are being held, newspapers typically write an article about the event.

there are exceptions, but usually it is like the articles above.

i would love to see more newspaper articles that did some actual objective reporting, rather than puff pieces.

In any conglomerate of people there will exist ALL kinds.
I remember living up North and having to leave the town for a couple of weeks because the bikers would swarm the area; and by the time the last one was gone, the area was trashed to the max, Law Enforcement and the Town's people were spent and highly stressed out, then a couple of months later, here comes the tattoo artists and enthusiasts of New England. Now, I dare anyone to find me a worse crowd of weirdos, misfits and freaks, all that also effortlessly destroyed the place. This continues to happen annually still.

There is a clear difference between a JW convention and a convention of bikers or tattoo enthusiasts or politicians, etc., in terms of civil order, peace and cleanliness.
It can be easily noticed by the unbiased/objective journalist that JW conventions on top of the financial gains to the area, also bring orderly, clean, law-abiding, well groomed individuals.
I know...., it is difficult for many in this forum to attach any credit to the WTBTS.

Died Due To Refusing Blood Transfusion

well, last monday my mother, a jehovah's witness since her baptism in 1968 died last week because she would not accept a blood transfusion.

she was 76 and had lung and skin cancer.

i know that the cancer would have gotten her anyway, but she was bleeding internally, and was told that she needs a blood transfusion, as her blood count went all the way down to 3.2 (should be 12-14.

Sadden by your loss.
Your mother died due to lung and skin cancer; internal bleeding cannot be stopped by mere transfusing blood, only elongate the already horrible, painful circumstances.
May the good memories provide you comfort.

Heard over the weekend of a young couple, living very comfortably due to inheritances and profitable business, that is prepping their home because they're selling to simplify their life in order to both pioneer where the 'need is great'.
OMG, some people are still big time blinded by the WTBTS. Unreal!

Why do witnesses feel the need to put JW ORG on all their social media sites?

have you all noticed the obsession witnesses have of putting jw.org on all their social media sites like facebook, twitter, instagram etc?.

so many put it in their bio section...like some sort of loud proclamation to other witnesses that they are righteous and spreading the message.. it's also very lazy.

now with no personal effort at all, they can just say jw.org and be "witnessing".

Been asked to display it by family and other JW friends. Have declined.
Oh-oh, yet another mark as being 'unspiritual'. Damn it!

Do not be fooled, the WTBTS is doing quite well financially:
- they're making a killing with the sales of their NY HQ and other bethel/KH/branch properties around the world.
- Now that they've reduced the small assemblies to 1-day, they're receiving double the contribution amount from 2 circuits that use the same assembly place in one weekend (1 on Saturday and the other on Sunday); this was a very clever, profit-motivated move (of course, it was directed by the 'Holy Spirit').
- With them going 'electronic', only here in the USA, the profits are immense; imagine how much more when they reach this capability worldwide.
- On top of the massive profits, the savings accrued with the releasing of special pioneers/missionaries/district overseers/bethelites around the world are immense as well.
- Now that the old gizzard zealots are dying off, and with they increasing F.O.G. rhetoric, surely they're being funneled large $$$ and valuables (you know how one must honor Jehovah with our valuable things. wink, wink).
The WTBTS is doing extremely well financially at this time.
They better enjoy it and invest it wisely. The new generation of JWs are coming, and they're much better informed on their bs.
